Alaska fertility options: Our friends to the North
Patients often come to PNWF for care from outside of the Seattle Metropolitan area, including many from Alaska.
Working with the patient's hometown care provider, or nearby women's health center, the PNWF team will collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinicians to maximize the quality of care while minimizing travel to Seattle.
MEET ALASKA'S JOY ZIMMERMAN-GOLDEN, ANP-BC
Joy Zimmerman-Golden is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner who is trained in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. She provides patients with fertility workups, low-tech treatments such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and the initial stages of in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. Zimmerman-Golden was the President of the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society in 2013-2104, the first nurse practitioner to hold that title in the Society’s 64 years. Zimmerman-Golden has a long working relationship with PNWF and is regarded by patients across Alaska. Contact her in Anchorage at 907- 264-2333.
During the IVF cycle much of the monitoring can be done in Alaska. After the patient's initial phone consultation with their PNWF provider, PNWF stays in close contact with the Alaskan team, working together to offer each patient the best care possible.
For more information about being a long-distance patient in Alaska at PNWF, please speak to Yvette at PNWF at 206-515-0000.
I would encourage my friend to seek professional help as early as possible. Both seeing a medical team that specializes in fertility treatment as well as someone to support their emotional health. I would advise them to consider all options. Loving a child regardless of how they came to you is such an incredible gift. I would encourage my friend to not give up no matter how hard the process becomes.
